Sex robots are coming, this we know for certain. One thing we don’t know if men will actually buy sex robots when they are commercially available. One barrier to entry will be the cost. The first versions of sex robots are expected to cost more than $10,000. This price tag will likely keep most interested people on the sidelines as they wait for the price to decline.
A likely alternative to this is that sex robots will be available by the hour, a kind of sex robot prostitution. This will allow men who can’t afford a sex robot of their own, have access to one for a small window of time for a small amount of money. The question still remains though, will men actually want to have sex with a robot?
The answer is YES, most men say they would have sex with a robot
Harriet Sugarcookie, an adult blogger at harrietsugarcookie.com, conducted a worldwide survey to determine the male attitude towards sex robots. Here are her findings:
Over 500 men in North America, the UK and Australia took part in the survey. The most obvious thing to ask them was whether they could have sex with a robot. For the purposes of the survey it was pointed out that by robot, we meant a sex robot that could mimic human emotions.
The results were pretty amazing. A full 71 per cent of men admitted that they would totally fine with robot sex. In fact only seven per cent absolutely would not have sex with a robot and the remaining 22 per cent just weren’t sure.
The study also asked some additional questions, like if the person had used male sex toys in the past, or if they’d consider a relationship with a sex robot:
Sex toy makers should take note that although many men would have sleep with a sex robot, 68 per cent of the men we surveyed had never use any male sex toys.
…
Although many men could happily sleep with a sex robot, things didn’t look all positive for inter-human-robot romance. Only 24 per cent of men thought they could have a relationship with a robot. The majority of men were undecided with 37 per cent unsure.
So we can see that of the 500 men surveyed, almost all of them would have sex with a sex robot, or at least consider it as a possibility. It appears that using a male sex toy in the past, like a fleshlight, has little affect on their decision. And finally, sex robot relations will most likely be strictly sexual, with most men not interested to entering into a relationship with a robot.
Personally, I find these results very surprising, considering the current taboo of male sex toys such as sex dolls. There is a certain basement dwelling man-child stereotype currently associated with the use of male sex toys (for heterosexual men that is, not sure about the butt toys for gay men). However, the survey results would indicate that sex robots may catapult the use of male sex toys into the mainstream, with most men indicating that they would try it.
